Duration 33 Weeks

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Rugby Football Union’s new state of the art training centre at Pennyhill Park – the official home of the England Rugby Union Team. The 29,000 square foot training centre included; a sports hall with third generation indoor pitch, professional gymnasium, sprint track, changing rooms and showers. NNC were speciafically chosen by the Volkerfitzpatrick project team to deliver this flagship project due to our past performance on previous schemes.

FACTS AND INFORMATION

The project achieved a Considerate Constructors Scheme 'Performance Beyond Compliance' certificate.

OUR WORK

Site Preparation

The site was split into two sections to accomodate the sloping nature of the site.

Foundations

The piles were broken down and bent into new RC pads and ringbeams. Large sectioned precast concrete walls were put in place to retain the level split of the building.

Drainage

Foul, storm and land drainage was installed on site. Pop ups bought up to finished floor level and installed through sleeves in the strip footing. Retention tank and separator installed on site and connected to storm drainage.

Carpark & External Works

As the building was partially constructed into the existing hill the external works were particulay challenging given the change in levels between sections. A level sprint track was constructed for drills and the areas for stretching and outdoor rehabilitation were formed to aid the players in their recovery.

Project Testomonial

NNC’s were approached directly due to the high profile nature of this project to deliver the groundworks package. From our experience on several previous schemes we knew we could rely on them to deliver this flagship project and work with us to ensure its success. NNC’s ability to perform and function as a key project partner meant that we were able to deliver a scheme which exceeded our clients expectations.

  • NNC undertook the groundworks package at the Melton Mowbray Cattle Market. Works ranged from deep drainage diversions & RC foundations to precisely setting out of bolt boxes & pennage sleeves to the underside of the groundfloor slab. All works were planned and executed on programme given due consideration to the “live” project environement we were working on. I would not hesitate to use NNC again.

  • NNC worked alongside Kiers to deliver this new HQ and teaching facility for Natural England in a live nature reserve. The project was not without its challenges. Nesting seasons created programme constraints and the main bridge entrance to the project was deemed unsafe to use part way through the build. Through all this NNC continued to go above and beyond to ensure programme, budget and quality consideraions were met at all stages. NNC were a key component of this projects successful delivery.
